Looking for a UV to help battle Dino's. Has anyone used the lifegard QL series? It will be used on 2 tanks separately, first is a max nano so 21 gallons minus rock, was thinking the QL15 watt as it would also work on my reefer170. I've tried searching but very little feedback on these and it seems a lot of people are having a hard time getting answers/responses from lifegard. So that's concerning. The 25 watts may be too much for my small tank so the pro series is out. I'm concerned about quality with the aquauv, especially with all the reviews of the 57 watt only being 40 and the company can't answer simple tech questions. Was going to go green machine until I read the reviews on here

I can't offer an opinion on the Lifegard UVs, but I do have an AquaUV 57-watt on my system and it works great. I'm not sure how you're planning to run the UV on both tanks, so I can't offer any suggestions there - other than 25 watts is way overkill for both systems.

I'm going to run it on my nano first until Dino's are gone, then the reefer170. That's why I was asking about the QL 15 which is 15 watts. I've seen some reviews about the housing burning through but who knows. There is very little feedback on UV for some reason. Eventually I'll get a lifegard pro for my reefer350, also has Dino's but keeping them in check with h2o2, phyto, pods, and microbacter7

If you're going to be moving it around between tanks, I might suggest the AquaUV Advantage 2000+ 15-watt hangar model. You'll just need something like a Sicce 1.0-2.0 pump and a good length of tubing. You could probably run this permanently on your Reefer 350 when you're done with the smaller tanks,

I may go with the barbed unit as I need to keep my screen tops on to keep fish in. My only hesitation is the quality of the plastic housing and it deteriorating due to 24/7 UV. PVC is not very UV resistant, even when UV stabilized. That's why I liked the lifegard style with the sleeves that get replaced yearly. But it's really my only option besides one of the cheap jebao, aquatop, or gkm units.

I mean, the housing seems fine. It's fairly thick (even the Advantage 2000+). Many reefers and LFS use AquaUV, Pentair, etc. - and they're similar in design.
I'll probably try that unit in 15 barbed. It'll at least be good for 2 years or so before issues as even cheap garbage units go that long. Any clue what flow rate I need for Dino's?

It looks like 233 Gph for parasites, so somewhere between that and 700 Gph.
