ok the emergence of it is over. My cpr failed on me for the last time so I replaced it with a Lifereef today which is working fantastic. Definitely a better design. Problem is noise. The inner box is only filling up about 3-4 inches so the water cascading in is loud. I can’t figure out a way to get it fuller other than I expect more gph perhaps ??? What am I missing here? My pump is a mag 18 with one 5/8 or 3/4 clear vinyl return line.

I had one years ago. Like everything lifereef well made and works without issue. You can quiet it by increasing flow, if that’s not an option a gate valve after the overflow can be used although some will disagree as it can be a little risky

My silencer that was on mine was really just a pvc pipe (about 3 inches) with a cap on it and teeth cut into the bottom. The cap had a hole drilled in it with air hose pushed through it. It really cut down on the noise.

Have you tried lowering the inner box?

Took me a while to get mine tuned in but now my water level is higher so the whole system is quieter. My only issue now is the discharge tube in my sump makes a little noise.

The silencer he sells is key.

I didn’t try lowering the inner box. I assumed that would only lower my tank level. I did increase flow and put some foam filter in the inner box. And I just made a lid for the outer box today. I haven’t put it on yet as I’m still at work. However I have had trouble with the discharge tube being noisy with other overflows. My solution to that was putting a piece of pvc pipe with an elbow on the bottom in the sump with foam in it above the waterline. The discharge tube resting on top of the foam and above the waterline made it silent.
