Lifereef Skimmer Help

Set up a Lifereef Skimmer with a Mag 7 Pump.

Skimmer has been running for 2-4 days now. However, I am unable to get the bubbles to foam up and reach the top of the collection cup. I spoke with Jeff about it and it has something to do about the water chemistry. He also suggest I upgrade to a bigger pump.

People who own Lifereef Skimmers, please let me know what pump you recommend or what you are running that you have been successful with?

Looking for a quiet pump with small footprint.

Go with a bigger pump mag 7 is pretty small

I plan to upgrade to a bigger pump today. Hopefully will be able to get it to skim. Thank you for the input.

What model Lifereef? The SVS2-24 you had posted about? Jeff sells them with the Mag 9.5, so you already know the answer.

The good news is that you can use the 7 for mixing saltwater I may have a few unintentional spare reefing bits around my house as well.

I'd go even bigger than 9.5. You can always dial it back with a valve. Better to have too much pump than too little

How long has the tank been set up??

Jeff does recommend the mag 9.5 as a minimum, probably be all good with a pump upgrade and as stated above always good to have a spare!
