Just placed my order for my overflow! Jeff is a great guy! Cant wait to become part of the family. Looking to pick up a skimmer at some point too!

here is 4 days of skimmate with my lifereef. this skimmer sat on a shelf for 15 years before I fired it up. I tried a needle wheel cone skimmer and got tired of fiddling with it. I fell into all the hype. my lifereef pulled out more junk in 2 days then my fancy needle wheel skimmer did in 2 months

I let mine drain into the sink. I have a 36 lr and i use a dc pump, highly recommended against by the company but it works great and i run it at less than half speed so it uses almost no power.

I know the risk with letting it drain to the sink too, not too much can happen in my tank even if it went out of control. I would know pretty quickly via apex alarms. Probly been running it close to a year or more and no issues at all. Pulls quite a bit and i don't do much maintenance at all. Barely every clean it.

I think that might be a little outdated as far as the DC pump goes. I just spoke with Jeff a couple weeks ago and his only note about using a DC pump is to oversize it vs a traditional AC pump.

Yea Jeff did say I could use a DC pump but recommended the AC. I've only been running my new lifereef skimmer a couple weeks. Pretty nasty stuff in that cup and wasn't sure if I needed to clean it off. Or just let it go and just drain water as the cup fills.

Don't tell Jeff, but I am currently running a Bubble Blaster needle wheel pump on mine. :-) Just wanted to see what it would do. This is about 24 hours after cleaning.

I received mine a about a week and 1/2 ago. Replaced a mess of a setup with a Lifereef sump, media reactors. Removing the clutter and mess, along with a reefgium. Picture of my skimmer running a MAG 9 after 1.5 weeks. Mine is hooked to a DAVY Jones Superlocker also. I am very happy with the results!!

I might have had something to do with that.... lol

I've been pushing some high volume DC pumps through my 36" now 42". Currently running a DCP 18000 at 100% .

Hey everyone just wondering... I just got a life reef skimmer and it’s been running for 2 days. I can’t seem to dial it in the foam head is either not even reaching the neck or it’s totally overflowing my cup. What did everyone set it to to get it started ?
