lifespan of a bristle worm

You will most likely have to manually remove them either by traps or fishing them out when you see them. The can be beneficial as scavengers but to me they are ugly and I removed them when I had them years ago. Watch at night for them swimming to the top and back down. I cannot remember for sure but I think it was in response to the lunar cycle and no lights. As the tank was in my living room I could monitor the tank and pulled quite a few out until they disappeared. Good luck!

At one time I had a 3 foot bristle worm living in the same tunnel as my pistol shrimp and my yellow watchman goby, got the images to prove it.

Ah ha! I thought my trio was weird and unique, but I guess not! My Yasha and Pistol share their burrow with a bristleworm as well. I've never seen the full length of the bristle worm. All I know is that it is at least 2" long. (This is an 8 gallon tank.)

^ Awesome image.

WOW! Now when I see that I don't want to remove it to kill it! I hate to kill anything!! If I pull my bristles I have to put it someplace..
The toilet? Ugh!

Arrow Crabs will munch on large bristle worms like candy, but Arrow's get large and obnoxious fast, they are cool though.
Most Dotty backs will actively pursue all size of bristle worms.
If you absolutely can not tolerate bristle worms for what ever reason a knee high stocking tied at the end with a small piece of raw fish or shrimp will attract bristle worms at night. The worm gets caught up in the nylon fibers, and you simply remove them.

Not everything ugly and creepy is bad in this hobby, it's a package deal.
+1 :)

Please not in the toilet!!! Do u have a LFS?

NO Worries! I DON'T Want to do that! But once I catch them I cant let them free in the yard! LOL Its a catch 22 because I don't want them, but don't want to harm them so I guess I just deal with them! But the weirdest thing... I do not see any since this thread began! LOL I konw its a coincidence and I probably have 100!

Bummer. Mine took about 18 pulsing Xenia off my hands. I guess it depends on the store. Doesn't hurt to ask right?

MY local store says no! There is another GREAT store over an hour away and they said they would take corals off my hands but not give credit unless its something they are looking for..
