I know that this is an absolute moon shot, but does anybody know of a hydroponics/whatever place that sells adapters for whatever the newer PFO style is to the older PFO style?

These are common adapters so maybe hydroponics place might have some. I used to know the names of them, but I long forgot. I could search if anybody knows the names.

Just asking before I go searching since some of you all know more than just reef stuff and I only know reef stuff.

Whoops.. just saw you want old to new.. sorry about that! Not sure if they make those.. you could always splice one in and solder it together with some heat shrink.

PFO originally used standard molex connectors and then switched to J&J. Made by J&J Electronics Inc. I just don’t remember the pin configuration. PFO never used the standard horticultural connector (S type). Which was originally used by Sunlight Supply.

That middle/lower slot in the PFO ballast is actually a blade and not round. I have found some adapters that have three round male plugs, but not a straight middle one. Maybe it does not matter and you can just jam it in there.

The HBX adapters (BAAS_ adapters) are for adapting S type (Sunlight Supply/Sun Systems) and Hydrofarm 3 prong. PFO used a completely different configuration and wasn’t typically used for hydroponics/horticultural lighting. Might just be easier to replace the receptacle on the PFO ballasts. That is what I did.

Old school for sure. I never used the J&J them when PFO was still in business. All of my lights had different plugs. Lots of places had adapters, but the metal in them was trash, so they corroded like crazy until the arc'd or otherwise had to be thrown out.

I ended up just opening the pfo ballast, and wiring a different female plug to the 3 wires that connect the old style one. Not much too it once you open up the ballast.
