I have this light for my tank which has a moonlight setting. Can my fish sleep with the moonlight setting on at night, or should I turn it off.

I found the “moonlight” on my lights set at .25% intensity is way too bright . I either have all lights off or sometimes I have a single LED moonlite I got from the LFS that I turn on. If you can see the fish easily I’d say it’s too bright

My tank does just fine with “moonlight”, but it is based on moon phase. I have the max setting at 5% for it (ai hydra lights) and have no issues with fish sleeping. But it is not very bright either.

Does it show you the % of light that is being put out in the moonlight setting? If it's a low setting I'm sure they would be fine, but why not shut it down while you're asleep and not able to enjoy it lol. Mine after its done going through the sunset goes to moonlight (5% blue I believe) but the moonlight shuts off and tank goes totally dark around 9PM until sunrise.

Not sure if it REALLY makes a difference or if it's coincidence, but since I've been totally dark overnight, if I come out for a drink at night, I see a lot more of my "nocturnal" and not so sociable inhabitants out cruising around the tank

I use moonlight and most of the fish go into their sleep mode. There are many fish that simply wont such as cardinals, clowns and certain wrasses

My light came with a 3 hour moonlight schedule. From podcasts I've been listening to, real moonlight is actually a pretty low illumination; maybe around 1 par or 25 lux. I set my moonlight to 5% intensity also and it still seems too bright when all other lights are off. That being said, all of my nocturnal critters come out and fish swim to their beds to go to sleep still. Based on vetteguys response Ill have to keep a closer eye on my clown fish and see how she behaves.
