Hello Reefers....
I have this black sponge grey in some places. Its growing different to chicken liver sponge by the looks of it and it' a different colour. Does anyone know what sponge it is please, not convinced its Collospongia auris or Chondrilla nucula..... two sponges I have seen described as liver sponge.

Can you get a picture of it with your lights on so we can get a good look at it. I have had one black sponge grow in my aquarium and it was very invasive. I tour it out of the aquarium several times and it just kept growing back. The reason I tour it out was because It was not very pretty for one, and it was growing really quick and starting to take over corals believe it or not. I had to scrub the rock with tooth brush several times to keep it from coming back. It grew like a ball and then matted out, so it was not like what I"m seeing in your pics. If its nice and you like it, keep it. I have all sorts sponges that grow in my aquarium , mainly yellow. They make a nice addition and they just grow on their own from spores left on the live rock. Great filter feeders.
