I have a 72bowfront tank. I am goign to be getting 2 250W sunlight supply pendants and am wondering if anyone has any good ways to hang the lights. The Wifey wants nothing suspended from the ceiling. Anyone have any good ideas or plans or pictures of how to do this and make it look good. Trying to get away from a hood on the tank as well. Thank you in advance.

i have seen some really cool diys for black metal tubing mounted to the back of the stand and bent over top of the tank. very cool and cheap! with having it a tubing the wires ran through it so you only saw them to the light for a couple inches. good luck, and if you do a diy take some pics!!!

do like i did but have a cross bar to join the two arms or make 4 arms lol

I just used 1 inch wide 1/8th inch or so thick flat steel stock bend in a 90 so halfway across top of tank and bolted to back of stand.I wish i had pics of how i did it cause get ?s all the time.Oh and it costed under 15 or so to make.

I am actually going to use the 3/4" conduit and have it bent. Going to be using about 10ft or so and use one solid piece which will come up from behind the tank on both sides and run the length of the tank. Will post pictures when up. Similar to Tswifty's under the link you gave me.

just finished mine :-)

looks great... i'll get some pics to post tomorrow

Any pics of it Tekken? The more pics the better. The other thing I wouldn't mind seeing is the different ways people suspended their lights from the conduit! Thanks in Advance.

here you go... at first rather intimidating... but took a chance... seeing as each 10 ft. 3/4 pipe was only $4. Measured how high I wanted the lights to hang, after measuring the point of which I wanted to bend the pipe, used a sharpie to mark each pipe and used a 3/4 inch pipe bender ($38) or have the store bend for you if they are nice enough. After bending, used black gloss spray paint to give it a nice look. used 3/4 inch pipe holder to screw in... should be located in the same section as conduit pipes. Had my fiance stand in front of the tank to direct me on height and direction before screwing in the pipes.

gotta admit, it was rather easy... to cut the pipes, i just used my dremel with the metal cutting blade... took me all of 10 minutes to measure and cut the pipe and about 24 hours of spray painting 3 coats on them. Looks great and gonna get some more to do my other tanks the same way. One tip is try not to be cheap and get the most out of one pipe. The pipe bender uses the distribution of the weight of the pipe and your feet to bend the pipes. Try to give it good room when bending. When I tried to take the left over pipes (total of 3ft) to bend for 20 gallon frag... i couldn't bend it worth a lick. The pipe wasn't long enough to give the adequate pressure for the pipe bender.

Hope that helps

Why can't somebody mass produce something like this?? Looks like the cheapest option is the Tree thingee from ZeroEdge for $200.
