When sitting, you can see the bright leds/T5's directly on the hanging fixture (mine is the Aquatic Life hybrid). A friend suggested that I put something on the front that hangs down to block that from view. It doesn't bother me, but I did notice that the front edge of the T5 unit has a sort of track where maybe something was enabled for that or some other purpose. My old Coralife used a similar track for mounting legs. Does anyone know why that track is there? Is there any sort of drop down shielding to block direct view of the bulbs if sitting? Any DIY solutions not as elaborate as a full canopy hood?

Black plastic I scavenged someplace. I stuck it on with auto trim tape. A 3M product.
I had my daughter hold a rule while I sat where I usually watch the tank and we measured down to where all the emitters were blocked from view.

Reviving this thread as I'm faced with the same problem...I'm using two Ecotech Radion XR15 G5's on a multilight track and the light spillage is pretty intense.

Anyone tried darkened plexiglass from Home Depot or Lowes?

It's particularly tough when sitting in a chair which is at a lower angle...

Same problem. Setting up my tank and got to the lights and was not expecting the spillage. 2 Xr15 pros with the standard rms brackets and the whole side of my house lights up. The pic is during the day with the BRS recommended settings at 60%. Doesn’t look like I can adjust the height with the brackets, I wonder if that would even help. Plus was planning on two more of these lights...
