Hey everyone,

I have a 30"x8"x8" desktop AIO that I am keeping softie and LPS in, and I'm having a hard time finding a good light to cover these dimensions. I currently have a few eBay 3watt LED bars over it. These work, but they don't look very nice. I've been having a hard time deciding what light to go with.

I've read up on the aquamaxx nemolight which seems like a good fit for my setup, but I'm concerned on how well coral will grow given its low wattage LEDs. I was looking at Reefbreeders Nano-Lite WiFi and really like that fixture, but am concerned on whether I'll get good coverage on the ends. I don't want it to look noticeably dimmer on the ends of the tank.

Lastly, I've been toying with a rapidled dual aurora puck kit or 2xkessil a80's, but these last two options escalate the price quite a bit.

Any options, opinions or comments would be greatly appreciated!

You've only got 8" of tank to light....low wattage will be fine most likely. Even preferred.

Tunze submersible LED's would be interesting in there. Two strips across the front.

Check their LED illumination section.

I think a pair of 8811 LED marine eco chic's ($70) or 8850 LED full spectrum's ($145) would be your preferred options:

I think considering how shallow it is I'm going to give the Aquamaxx Nemolight a shot. It's slim, has a built in timer, and should be more than enough light to house what I'm after.

I was really wanting to try the Reefbreeders Nano-Lite due to the wifi connectivity but would likely need two for good coverage. That or two Kessil A80's would be nice but after two of those and the controller I'm in way more than the Nemolight.

the fluval 2.0 marine would really be excellent on that tank and grow anything with amazing colors ! plus with the wifi controller and cloud effect is great for acclimation qnd ramping dawn/dusk they cant be beat for 12" or shallower tanks I own them and AI prime, Chinese LED , T5s, and MH setups IMHO they nailed that light for shallow tanks
its cheap and super low pro

Thanks for the suggestion I'll look into it

Aquamaxx Nemolight

Reefbreeders Nano-Lite

You're looking at spotlight-type lighting for an 8" super-skinny tank? Spots would be better on a cube-shaped tank, or at least a tank that's wider – tons of light is going to shine outside the tank to light up the room.

I'd really consider those Tunze lights or an ordinary strip like @NanoDJS recommended. I think any strip that CurrentUSA makes wold also work find for this long-but-narrow space too.

Ya right now I'm debating the Fluval Marine and Reef 2.0 and the Aquamaxx Nemolight. I'm leaning towards the Nemolight because in order to have the timing functionings the Fluval I'd have to drop an additional $80 for the wifi module

Nemolight plus they are on sale right now. Will let you grow anything in the tank everywhere.

I thought about T5 but led seems like the route to go. I don't want the annual bulb costs it just makes more sense to do LED

I was saying T8 just for example. I wouldn't actually recommend it. ;) (Nor T5.)
