I pulled my refugium a few months ago ago after starting bio pellets. Now I have this empty space. I'm considering using it as a frag tank. Lighting is my main issue here. I have t5'son the main system and would love to go that way but with that size it just doesn't seem possible. So in on to LEDs. What suggestions does everyone have that would work there. My first thought was a 12x3watt eshines unit. I figured it would be plenty. What else is out there. And if someone can figure out how to get some T5's in there let me know. Thanks in advance.

Can you fit one of the 4 bulb aquatic life t5 fixtures in there? They are 20" with 18" bulbs. Should be able to find a used on on the cheap and only one plug is nice because of the built in timers.

I had considerd it. I have a oddyssea fixture of the same size. But the reflectore suck. I'll check on the aquatic life fixture. I wish I could do a retrofit, It would be nice to have 6 bulbs to get some variety in there. but I cant find a ballast for 18w T5's. The smallest GLO makes is a 24W. not sure that would work.

I kept sps in my Solana under the AL for a long time just recently last year switched to the 6 bulb. I would think in a 12" deep area it should work for just about anything.

OMG I just read my post. I must sound like an idiot. I apoligize for the grammar.

I'll check out that AL fixture. I might even try the odyssea fixture just for the heck of it. When I had it above my sons 10 gal it kept a small piece of Cali Tort that was left after I cut off the original colony alive, bad colors, but alive. Though the Bulbs were well over 1 yr old. Maybe it will work.

No worries on the grammar we were not grading THIS time!:p

Can't hurt to try the one you got.

the 4 bulb odyssea will work just fine for sps at that depth, just make sure to change out bulbs regularly.

I use trulumen bulbs in my NEP and when I had the AL seem to be real good bulbs.
