Light for coral quarantine tank

I'm setting up a coral QT for my two display tanks. One display has an AI Prime on it, the other has three Maxspect Ethereals. While I would prefer that the corals acclimate to the lighting they will eventually be exposed too, it seems kind of a waste of money to put expensive lights on a QT. Or am I looking at it wrong?

depends on the size of your QT tank.. if its a small 10-20g then you'll be ok

It's a 20 long. Would one of the Amazon black box lights be good enough or do I pop for another AI Prime?

I think the black box will work fine, try to match the spectrum and intensity of the QT tank to your display tanks where the corals will eventually end up.

blackbox is fine.. just get one that you are able to dim

Maybe 2 of them for a 20 long. Or if you don't have many corals just be sure to place them under the light.

Keep in mind, the dimmer at 1% is about 40% of full intensity.

So you can deliver about 300 par at 1% at 12in.

You can also pull lenses to lower the intensity and get better spread. It’s orobaly a better way to start.

I’d also reccomend a lux meter for $15 and you’ll be snake to see this yourself.
