I have a 36g bowfront with a Chinese blackbox light hanging over it. I changed the hanging mounts today and was wondering what night you guys have y’all’s above you tank.
For the past months I’ve had it 13 inches above and blues at 100 and whites at around 10-20 corals seem to be doing good. But didn’t know if they would do better at different height

Has everything to do with PAR. I suggest seeing if you can rent a Par meter to see where your light intensity is at throughout the tank. It's the only real way to know if your over lighting them or under lighting them.

I have my CBB's at 12" above the waterline on my 125 and my upper rock work gets 300 par and at sand bed gets around 150 par.

Otherwise, coral color, polyp extension and growth would tell you how they are doing.

At higher height you get better spread but less par. If your corals is doing good with where it at , I would leave it be. Because it’s stable.

You are now making a change , which is unknown (unstable) until you test it and get your corals to acclimate which makes it stable again.

I would say look at the manufactures recommendation on height. But I would also say if you’re corals or doing good and you see great growth I wouldn’t touch him.
