Also another quick question how should I clean my filter socks? And while cycling should I clean them at all or will this remove bacteria I am trying to build up? If so when is the right time to do the first clean?

Washing machine or just by hose.
Just google the search window to find threads on the socks.
I don't use any of them.
Thank you for all the info and help Diesel I ended up getting the API nitrate and ph test sets and went and got the Red Sea calcium magnesium and alkalinity test set and also bought a clean up crew and 2 clowns to help the process speed up I used the Dr tims bacteria. The fish see to be doing ok. The hermit crabs seem a little sluggish I'll wait to see how that goes. My salinity was about 1.021 a little low for my comfort so I added about a gallon of saltwater mix to the ATO to raise it checked it a little bit ago and it's went up to 1.023 so it's slowly getting there hopefully by the time the ATO empties it'll be around 1.024-1.026 range where I want it. Waiting game in place lol. How can I follow you so if I have any questions or updates I can share?
