I see all kinds of posts about how high to mount lights, intensities, etc... but my question is....

why do some mount their lights long ways vs front to back?
I for instance have Hydra 64’s and I have them mounted horizontal (width of tank) where I see others have them mounted vertical (front to back of tank) any advantage or disadvantage to this? Other than I probably would need more lights mounting them vertical? I included a couple examples of my description makes no sense lol
I know these aren’t the same lights I’m just using pics as examples some mouthed horizontal vs vertical

The last pic is of my waterbox 220 and I have mine going horizantal

You know, I always wondered too. I have three Hydra 32s on my 525XL and I have them horizontal, not pointing out like the top photo.

Nice setup. They can be mounted either way, and the difference is dispersion and amount of par from the overlapping light. BRS did a video of this using radions I believe and they provided all sorts of data showing the various par levels around the tank.
