Light my Nuvo 30L

I have a IM Nuvo 30L, currently lit by 2 Kessil A350s. The problem is that both units have some dead diodes so I am looking to replace them eventually. I am open to used lights and have a max budget of around $400 including mounting and controllers. I would like to stay away from hanging kits if possible. My tank is a BTA and Softie tank.


Top contenders are a used pair of AI Prime HDs and Noopsyche K2s.

Any other obvious candidates?

This is what I am leaning towards. It blows my mind that other lights can not connect directly to your phone. Seems like all lights in 2019 should be able to do this.

My only concern is the "disco ball" effect. Do you notice color separation on your lights?

I have the new Razor X on my Reefer 525. You purchase the ICV6 module separately for $45 and the light and other Maxspect gear connect to it wirelessly.

Then download the app and you can easily program from your mobile device.

There is a small amount at times but minimal. Much less than I was expecting

I’m using 2 Ai primes on my 30L and really happy with them. You do get a little disco ball effect but it’s minimal. 3Dreefing makes defusers for the primes which I bought and now it’s not an issue at all.

Seems like you can grow everything except acros.

I have a lid from manufacturer which cuts more par level tho.. I rather get less par level than lose fishes.

Unless you want your tank with full of acros, ai prime hd cuts everything.

Lights are about 8-9” off the water. I’m running the saxby schedule with a 60% reduction in the whites. Mainly a LPS tank with a few acros up top.

Your tank looks amazing with kessil tho. Ai prime can't imitate the amazing shimmer and color blend like kessil. But still I like both companies products. It has pros and cons.

I have also considered using kessil as replacements. Maybe a pair of A160s would do the trick? I already have the goosenecks so I could save some cash. I was also looking for some A360s.
