So I got just a cheep led light on my 55 gal tank right now and it says low to med corals will grow with it, I know I will really need to upgrade when the time really comes but I was wanting to see what eceryone thought about this light I found on amazon if it would really work or not, I like it has a timer and such but dont want to waste time or money if it's not worth it

I was looking at a fluval sea strip light for awhile but decided I want to get something that I can grow into (eventually I want to grow sps) so im going to get t5’s instead. I’m sure that light COULD grow softies and lps, but if your looking into getting sps, I personally wouldn’t buy it.

I’ve heard of that brand but know nothing about it. Someone will come along. @Dana Riddle do you have experience with this?
I bought a used tank and one of those lights was included in the deal. The tank was a fish-only and the owner was happy with it. I never used it for corals (the tank is 24" deep and just 'eyeballing' the amount of light suggested it wasn't adequate in this particular situation.) But that isn't to say it wouldn't be OK for a shallow tank where low-light corals such as Discosoma (or maybe even a chalice or two) are housed. I've got business to attend to every day until Saturday but I'll try to take a closer look and report back as soon as I can.
