Hello all I’m looking to get some nice lighting for mainly sps, soft coral tank I may do lps in future I am unsure yet anyways my tank is 60” long 24” high budget is flexible but not insanely high just wondering what good options I have out there any advice would be really great thank you in advance!

You don't need a ton of par for softies or LPS however I would purchase with the intent to possibly go for higher par requirements like multiple hydras or as mentioned above the Kessils. They will all give you the flexibility to do whatever you would like now or in the future.

I agree with the previous posters. Buy lighting with the intention of not having to upgrade again no matter what you put in your tank. You can always turn them down if you don't need the full intensity now.

Can't go wrong with any of the bigger names in lighting. If there's no budget, then it's a matter a splitting hairs at the higher end of the lighting companies.

Yeah this is my intention I don’t wanna have to upgrade again. I was looking at the radion xr30’s because I hear the color is insane on them

Ya someone posted a thread recently with questions in regard to budget led lights. We were looking at a particular light that had (2) 25 watt clusters. The rest of the light was basically a heat sink. This light would have to be ran at 100% peak in order to give the OP what they were after and even then the spread would not have been very good. I think a lot of people disregard what it means to run a lighting fixture at 100% long term considering what that is doing to the heat sink among other components.

Radions are great lights and you honestly can't go wrong with them. Mobius can be a bit of a challenge at times. If budget is not a concern absolutely go with Radions.

Little newer to some of the terms what is mobius?

The app that runs the radions and let you set schedules… I keep hearing it’s a pain but I’ve never had an issue with mine personally on my radions.

Hmmm I work in IT so hopefully I’d be able to work my way through it so from the sounds of it I should be considering radion xr30s or kessil AP9x 2 of either

Both Mobius and Kessil apps are very straightforward. Consider how you're going to mount them as well. The only reason I went with Kessil over Radion initially was due to how I was going to mount them. I could not center mount a fixture nor could I hang a fixture in my particular case. I ended up being glad I went with the kessils for other reasons but both of these brands are top notch.

I think going to hang them from the ceiling which I’m assuming I have to buy a kit to do that for I haven’t read that they come with it

ATI hybrid power module.

48" 4 bulb or 48" 6 bulb( special order).

Comes with hanging kit.

Flexibility of mounting height.

Not much of wires /power bricks to mange. Just one single cable.

Thanks

Quick question if your still around I’ve researched the blue version vs pro version of the radions but seems like I’m getting mixed conclusions what’s your opinion on this?

Sorry, I dont really have an informed opinion on Radion, my LFS does exclusively use Radions with great results. They are pretty much a standard in the hobby though. I would say you can't go wrong with them and it probably comes down to your taste in how the spectrum looks. Hopefully and ecotech user can advise. If you're looking for any data on Kessil let me know I have loads of that.

I have g5 blues on frag tank. The coral colors are amazing from this light cant go wrong. The radion blues are made essentially to mimic famous ab+ program with all channels 100% I believe. I run bluer, but is a preference.

I prefer blue over pro for a little more coral pop IMO without loosing power for sps and other corals.

Keep in mind the Kessils are point source lights so you will have 4 points from which the lighting emanates. This is good while you are growing frags. Once the frags spread and the coral warfare begins you will need supplemental lights to help off set the shading.
As it stands I have two Kessil Ap9X over my 5 ft tank along with two orphek Blue bars. I love the Kessils and hope to continue using them for years to come.
I also have three G5's over same size tank and they do fill in more with less shading.
