Hello, I am curious as to what light schedule would be optimal for a mostly soft coral and few LPS reef tank. Any insight is appreciated.

What light do you have? What are the tank dimensions? Do you prefer a more daylight look or lazer tag putt putt black light glow (or a mix)?

I have Current Usa Orbit Marine lights, 6' length. Tank is 6 x 2 x 2.5 and I just want a bright daylight look.

Max blue and white. Put whatever green you like, and little to no red.

Those lights are very weak you would need 2-3 of those fixtures to light that size tank). If you meant the 2.5ft is the height then don't keep anything below 2ft You will want blue and white at max for as long as you can (10-12 hours but no more than the total period of complete darkness). You will also want to avoid corals in the edges.

Follow the lighting schedule of the Sun (that big round orange thing over your head outside) and follow its schedule in and around the Equator.

More blue/ less white simulates deeper depths in the Ocean

More white / less blue simulates shallower depths.

You gotta know at what depths your corals thrive

We don't mimic the sun in reef tanks in pretty much any way except that we have a light shining on coral. If we do then everyone is doing it extremely poorly (then again our tanks mimic nature very poorly). That light also needs as much coming out of it as possible.
