Hi there. First post here, been reading for a while. I have a lighting emergency. I have a 29 gallon reef tank that JUST finished cycling. Got 2 damsels, an emerald crab, 3 astrid snails, and 4 hermits. I'm currently running with a 150w MH, but this weekend I will be losing my lighting (my Dad needs it back all of a sudden GRRRRR).

I have been reading everything I can about LED lighting, but can't seen to get my head around all of it. I need to find a way to sufficiently light my tank for SPS and LPS growth, but have NO CLUE about wattage, optimum spectrum, number of bulbs, etc. Basically the requirements needed for adequate lighting.

My tank is 23" x 13.5" x 13.5" bowfront, roughly 29 gallons. Again, I plan to grow SPS, LPS, a few inverts, anemone, and clown. I'd like to spend as little money as possible. I know I could go out and drop $500+ easily here and make my tank REALLY happy, but does anyone have any suggestions for LEDs on a budget?

Quick final question: in the interim, all likelihood being that I will have NO lighting come Sunday, what is my best bet to keep what I DO currently have from dying before I can replace my light?

ANY help at all is most greatly appreciated!!! Thanks so much!!!

Move your tank in front of a window while you decide on lights.
