I am currently dumbfounded on lighting this tank . I am mainly between doing 8x24w ati or 4x24w t5 retro with 1 lumenmax elite 250w with a galaxy ballast. But I still have led's bouncing around my thoughts because of the controllability . So I am very puzzled right now because money isn't really a big issue so I have so many options . The tank is going to be mainly a monti/chalice/zoa tank so nothing high light . I know alot of people have halides and have awesome growth with all those corals but I really am not a fan of white light so I was planning on only running them for 1-2 hours and then running the 4 t5s and 4-6 led strips the rest of the day for my viewing pleasure . I would love to do radions or vegas but I haven't seen really any impressive growth with them . I am starting to lean more towards the 8x24w t5 with 4-6 led strips . What do you guys think ?

I think it boils down to what kind of control you are going to want.

If you go with controllable LED's then you always have the option to go into higher light corals as well as being able to dim them down to the lowest light loving corals.

Alot of people seem to have problems with chalices bleaching under strictly leds though . Thats the only thing thats keeping me back .

I have the same tank with 8 bulb t5 running on a ATI Powermodule. I have some chalice in the sand that seem to be doing well. It's a really powerful amount of light with 8 bulbs.
