SOOO as BF coming around I am thinking about adding a tank, a WB 5526 peninsula... 55x26x24 LxWxH

tank would be low to med light. tank is either going to be a seahorse with macros, gorgs , sponges and maybe zoas
or a butterfly and dwarf angels tank prob with the same. but in an ideal world I would like to have the option to do SPS with the butterflies if I go that way.

things I would like are:

~slim sexy and not huge and ugly. has to look good on the peninsula
~price point cant spend a ton just on the lights
~at least ramp up and down for sunrise/sunset more control-ability would be great but not a must.
~mounting options
~ looking at a 4' fixture or a few puck style lights.

leaning towards LED but could be talk in to T5 or maybe a T5 combo if the price point is on.

so lets talk lighting options...

my1st thought was reef breeders photon V2+ but as I will have 2 on my RS750 I think they will get confused with programming.

BRS thinks I could use 2 of the new AI 32HD keep n mind its a peninsula tank. I do love my little prime I have on the nano tank.
may be good all T5 I have never have T5 lighting on a tank ??

thoughts and recommendations plz

I think try a hybrid led /t5 so you get the best of both.

The 2 of the new Red Sea Reef LED 90s would be good. Daughter has one on her E-170 and it's a very good light. Brought back some bleaching corals that I put in it. Red Sea research shows corals use the 360-480nm spectrum

think only 2 would cover a 55" tank? I must admit i dont know much about these lights.

I agree with t5 hybrid. Can add leds as budget allows

kinda leaning towards that, however the aqutic life hybrid looks 1 steep above DIY.

what about T5 and 3 AI primes or 2 hydra 36? but that around 1K in lighting.

tring to fiqure out how to use 3 reefbreeders lights 1 one a different spectrum ( might need a bit more white for the macos and gorgs. that the LPS? )

The aquatic life has gotten really good reviews from what I have seen. They also made some improvements with the second gen.

Just t5’s, save some money and headache
You know I thought about all t5 But need to dim for evening living room chil time.
One less thing for the GF to complain about.

They do have dim-able T5 fixtures but there just as much as Led.

I figured out a way to run to sets if reefbreeers photo V2 + so that is an option once again. I do like them once you get them programed. Not as nice as Ai app but it does a great good once it's set.

Keep you from messing with it anyway.

That said after having my prime it is fun to play with settings to see what you like.
