so I am thinking of picking up this little nano. ( IM 20 peninsula )

the problem is lighting.
i would like to keep its sleek forum factor
and budget. something like 2 AI primes or the light are over kill on that tank plus $$$

options?
thoughts?

Here is what the Orbit Marine leds can do.
They might be the sleekest for this tank for the money. Next I’m my opinion would be the Kessil AP700.

I’m running two XR15 pros but they’re hidden under a upper cabinet in my office.

Honestly any light sold by BulkReefSupply should work for what you’re going for. Here are my top 6 for the IM peninsula 20

TWO $400 XR15PRO – SLEEK BUT EXPENSIVE

ONE $700 KESSIL AP700- SLEEK BUT EXPENSIVE

ONE $449 MAXSPECT RAZOR- LESS EXPENSIVE AND STILL THIN

TWO $449 KESSIL A360X- A LITTLE MORE FLAXABILITY OVER THE AP700

TWO $205 CURRENT ORBIT IC PRO- SLEEK AND INEXPENSIVE

ONE $425 Nano Box Reef Duo Plus M LED Light- GOOD MIDDLE GROUND AND CUSTOMISABLE TO MATCH SET UP

well I would like to keep the lighting under $250 as this would be a 2nd tank so dont want to go crazy.

think I would need two Current orbit IC pro's? for RFA shrooms and LPS?

or maybe I just go with the other tank I am looking at so one AI prime would work :D

2 Primes or 2 Kessil a80's would be my choice. As long as you can mount them ~12" above the water they would be great.

I am in the process of planning a build and I went with th SB reeflights basic, but given you tank size maybe the
SB Ultra 22:

https://sbreeflights.com/sbox-ultra-reef-lights/43-108-ultra-22.html

I discovered in my extensive searching about reef light that you dont want to use Current USA for anything reef related. They use .5 watt LEDs which isn't strong enough for most corals.

If you went with the new Current Orbit Pro you could probably get away with one. But make sure you pay for their high end version cause the other ones are worthless.
I’ve alwats felt you don’t want to go cheap on lights or heaters.

I had a Kessil a80 on a 9 gallon and it wouldn’t do LPS very well yet looks great. So you might have better luck. 2-3 of those on that 20 gallon could work.

Could also do a t5 supplement since the tank is so long...

Or....Why not spend the money and make your first tank better [emoji6]

I’ve got 2x Kessil a80 over my Peninsula 20g. Absolutely love the light. Actually was so impressed with it that I swapped to an a360we over my IM40.

can you post a pic or vid of your tank plz :D
i would love the 20 but the lighting is driving me crazy...might just go with the 14 or the evo 13.5 there are tons of those around...

I’ve got the Fusion 20 with 2 Prime HD. Just borrowed my lfs par meter and this is what I got running a Saxby profile.

For Budget I would go with 2 Prime HD. My personal choice but not budget friendly is one Radion XR30 or 2 Radion XR15

@fabutahoun thanks for stopping by yeah I love the idea of 2 AI primes. just $$ and mounting is there a sleek way of doing it? keep in mind this will be a peninsula by the couch so light spill is a issue. one reason why a ruled out the kessil A160. they might have a negative effect on the mood.

I thought 1 AI prime would work well for the standard 20? do you still have the par meter if so could you get us some reading with one center mounted?

I have the PAR meter but don't have the prime. Currently I have only Radions :D.

One Prime can work, and you can add another one latter as your corals grow, the Idea of 2 lights is that the light can hit the corals from all directions and to minimize shadowing.

Mybe @Swav8tor can help you with that. he posted the photo for PAR under 2 primes

@fabutahoun oops my bad head is full up lighting data par charts reviews and dreams...lol sorry about that.

if I could get away with one prime I would but that the tank is 30" long I dont thing that will work. I would need 2x most if not all puck lights. hence the 14 vs 20 debate.

is 10" if space worth an extra $250 ( 50 for the tank and 200 for an extra light )
