Tank is a 265g 84x24x30. I currently have 3 d120s lighting the tank and I'm moderately happy with it but I am upset in some aspects. Some of my corals have exploded in their new home in the new conditions (colors and growth) coming from the 90g running the same lights. And others are struggling. No bleaching, maybe browning if anything. My pink stylo is now this funky pastel purple color I'm not digging. Acans are losing color blah blah blah. I'm running both channels at 100% with 60 degree optics (I believe, my memory fails me, I didn't really pay attention when I ordered) my two biggest concerns are depth, and shadowing. The shadows aren't the typical lack of coverage, it's the **** cross braces. No matter how I configure the lights there is a dark spot where the cross braces are. So I was considering mounting some ecoxotic stunner strips under the cross braces to try and help out. But decided before I start randomly throwing money at lighting, I should re-evaluate the lighting system as a whole. I am still trying to get ahold of a par meter to get some readings. I absolutely love kessils. Love them, but after talking to a rep he seems to think that the 265 would be a stretch for their capabilities based on a 24" x24" spread at 36". I have a canopy over the tank and like to keep my lights high to give me some working space. This seemed like an expensive gamble to purchase 4 kessils and hope I can get the par I need. I am currently supplementing with t5s for about 4 hrs a day to give everything a nice sun bath for growth and plan to do so with new lights as well, but they still give me that dark zone below the cross braces. So is anyone else running a deep tank? Can anyone offer any insight on lighting a deep tank a little bit better and getting rid of these crossbrace shadows?
