I am going to go with AI Prime 16 HD lights to allow flexibly it moving them over the tank. The question is do I need 3 or can I sneak by with 2. I will most likely have a lot of SPS so I would like to be able to do everything everywhere no issues. Thank you in advance for your help.

You should be fine with 2. You could always add a third later if you need a bit more punch.

The primes would be fine. If you had the funds, 2 xr15’s would be best. You can get the G4’s on sale now for around $300 a piece. 3 primes would be $600 so you’d be in the same ballpark. The xr15’s are also a bit brighter, have better spread, and have a better spectrum. If the extra $200 is too much now, the primes will work just fine!
