I think I may have settled on using a 75 Gallon tank for my display tank as my wife has given me the go ahead to put the tank in our Living Room and that room can accommodate a much larger tank than my office. But I started buying stuff thinking I was going to set up a 40 Gallon Bowfront tank.

Serious question here... I picked up a light that would have worked perfectly for my 40 Gallon Bowfront tank, but will really only effectively light half of a 75 Gallon. I am thinking I will go ahead and set everything up as if I had two of these lights and when the time comes to add livestock, I will simply add that livestock (corals) to the side with the light until I can afford to buy another light or a better light (which may actually happen before I am ready to add livestock). So, I am trying to think ahead and solve problems which don't yet exist, but don't want to do something that will cause more problems later on...

I see no reason why this wouldn't work, but many of you know things I don't. Is there a reason NOT to do this?

The one thing you left out....what is the light? lol

The light I bought is an Evergrow IT2040.
Two of those would be fine for your 75. Do the one you have now, and get another one down the road.

Two of those in this case may be the preferred method if it is a rimmed tank. That way you can separate them enough to get the light around the brace and not cause a shadow.

Thanks. This is kind of what I thought. If I get an awesome bonus for Christmas, let's say $750, would you still suggest buying a second Evergrow, or would you suggest selling the Evergrow and buying something different?

All depends on your preference. The evergrow will grow pretty much anything you put under it.
