Hello everyone. I am new to the hobby and i have a lighting question. First some specifics on my tank. I purchased it from a gentleman who was moving into apartment. Tank is 55 gallon with 60 lbs of live rock, a blenny and two clowns. Currently running off a canister filter, protein skimmer, led lights and two powerheads. Water chemistry is good. Last week, i began to develop green bubble algae. Purchased 3 emerald crabs. They are eating, but bubble algae is still there and looks to be spreading. My question is could my lights be part of the problem? Specifically, am i leaving lights on too much. Typically, i turn light on for about 14 hours and blue led moon phase is on for 5 additional hours.

14 hours is a bit much. Might try 8-12 hours. And when you say bubble algae, that stuff had to be brought in from something. Its black and looks like a big pearl. Can you get a pic so we can ID the Algae?

In my experience bubble algae grows better in low-light areas. So it's not your light, it's just that bubble algae is difficult to get rid of. I recommend trying to get your tank parameters such that coraline algae grows well. If the growth of coraline algae is fast enough, it can actually cover up and suffocate bubble algae.

The place where the growth or algae is growing is usually on the bottom side of live rock. That lends me believe it needs more light not less.
