I have a Fox coral frag that has been retracted and partially bleached. I have another thread that goes into detail. In short I made too many changes too fast and am trying to narrow it down. My question here is if a sudden increase of 30-45 par over 3 days is enough to cause Fox’s to bleach? My original par reading at top of tank was around 170. After increasing the lighting it was around 215. My fox coral is 12.75” below the water line. Par measurements taken about 3/4” above water line. Borrowed a unit used for like greenhouses so couldn’t get measurements down in tank. Lighting is LED unit unsure of brand but thinking it’s Nicrew. This is my first coral. I believe it’s starting to recover just trying to determine cause so I don’t repeat in future. Thanks!

Yes, using LEDs, any PAR change can potentially negatively effect coral. When I increase intensity using LEDs, I do at a rate of about 2% per week.

Ok thanks! The corals started coming back out so I’m hopeful he’ll survive my mistake. I’d been researching and knew sudden changes could’ve caused it but I wasn’t sure if 30-45 par would have been enough. I appreciate the reply!
