hey all,

I have a 50 cube (24x24x20). Currently no coral, tanks been running about 6 months.

Above it I have a xr15, that I got in January, and I just picked up a second one this weekend.

The one I have hanging is hanging from an aluminum bracket by a diy wire harness, but that won’t work with two.

I’m looking into getting the 20 inch rail from ecotech, the two mounts and hanging kit which I believe will run me about $140 altogether to hang both light.

With that money, I am about half way to a 24 inch aquatic life t5/led fixture, where I can put my two xr15s in the middle of it, which will solve my hanging problem, plus give me t5 for what 150 more than I would spend on the ecotech brackets.

Would this be way over kill on a 24*24 cube ?

IMHO, probably yes. I'd look for a way to make your own hanging or mounting system.

I have a 24"x24"x18" cube and I have a Reef Breeders Photon V2+ and an inexpensive blue & white only led fixture that is similar in looks to the Photon set behind it. I could keep any photosynthetic coral in the tank. I have a PAR meter and at 90% blue and 40% white (my midday settings for 4 hours) I have a PAR of 180 at the sand. But my tank is 90% zoas and RFA with just a couple sps and lps corals.
