I have the opportunity to get a really great deal on 2 xr30 pro gen 3. Would it be worth it to get those overy current setup which is 2 AI primes? The tank is a 65 gallon (36x18x24). TIA!

AI prime is not even in the same class as xr30. It would be a HUGE upgrade and would be more than enough light to growth anything in a tank that size IMO
EDIT: I see gen 3 but still a good upgrade I think. I run gen 4 xr15s and love the fact I don't have to use the mobius app

That's what I thought but I want sure considering they were an older generation.

Do you know if there'll be PAR degradation just because of the age? That's the main thing I'm worried about. I don't want to shell out the money for something that ends up putting out less than what I have.

before you get a really great deal on a used light, might as well look at the reefi-labs uno 2.0. I just put 3 of them over my 300g tank and I am loving these lights. IMO they out preform anything made by AI or Radion. new xr30 g6 = 215 watts, uno 2.0 = 277 watts.

And at half the price of new radion, Reefi is an incredible light.

I agree it would be a huge upgrade. To me, the AI16 is a nano light, it shouldn't be on anything bigger than a 20 gallon IMO. I'm sure you'll be happy with the upgrade.

Sorry I'm not sure about that. I will say my gen 4s are probable 5ish years old with no noticeable degredation that I can see. They still grow sps.

^^ This may be an option worth looking into also.

I'll throw another one out there with the noopsyche k7 V3. I have 6 over a 72x24x24 tank and they have great color and a lot of par. I get 300 par on the bottom where my derasa clam is with the lights at 70%. I think 2 would work on a tank your size. I like my gen4 radions but prefer the colors of the noopsyche better. @Zach B is the US distributors so the lights ship from the states now.
