Hi All,

Sorry for another newbie question.....

Have a Red Sea nano max setup, With Reef Led 50, I'm getting so much conflicting info..?

I was told to to run lights for 6-7 hrs per day while tanks fresh and given i have the clowns in there doing their thing.. I normally do a fishless cycle no lights, but this time around i went for ATM Colony and added two clowns to feed the tank etc..I have lights on a custom program with blues at 60% and Whites at 5%... I know whites attract algae hence keeping it low.

I have been told i don't need them on what do you guys think on this..?

CHEERS

White light has nothing special to do with algae so don't worry about that. You can keep the light on, but there is no need to run it at anything other than low intensity. You can dose competition (certain bacterial blends) to the tank to let things other than algae get a foothold in the tank if you are worried about the ugly phase (I like dr tims waste away gel and pns probio)

Many thanks...

Yes I was wondering about running blues 35% and whites around 3-5%. That's all you get in the options Blue,White, Purple so I've kept them low more blues than white.

As for adding additional additives I was going to add shots of bacteria with water change. ATM colony says after 4 days it's ok to do WC.. so was going to do that and top up with a fresh dose of ATM colony at same time or try Microbacter7

Honestly I would run even less blue. Just enough to not have the tank be dark all the time.

If you go for microbacter, consider microbacter clean instead of 7 since 1you already have the cycling bacteria.
