Im in the middle of setting up my new 180 gallon Reef tank and was wanting some input on lighting from some others. I'm thinking of doing 2-250Watt MH(20k Radiums) with 1-400 MH(20K - ? on brand). I also was thinking of adding some VHO's to it, but not sure on which ones. Any ideas on the VHO's? Should I go with 14k's on the MH's instead of 20K with the VHO's? The tank is 6' X 2' X 2', again mainly SPS.....and no LED's for me!! Also, what is a good height to hang the reflectors above the tank? Thanks for your input!!!

I use the UVL VHO super actinics, they work well for actinic support and I have mostly SPS. I used to have 20k Radiums, it looked very blue. The actinic VHO's add a pink/purple coloration & look.

I order mine from Marine Depot

All fluorescent bulbs have a 30-day warranty. Because fluorescent light bulbs are extremely fragile, they require special handling and packaging for safe transport. The special packaging we use for fluorescent bulbs accommodates multiple bulbs so the more you buy, the more you save.

The height really depends on which reflectors you choose to go with. When I ran Lumenmax elites they are suggested to be at least 14 inches from the water surface for maximum spread. Some of the pendants you can mount much closer than that. Personally I love the look of radiums and vho's I don't think you will be disappointed and the growth was still great.
