hi all! I was told that a 3 W LED would be sufficient in keeping low light corals alive in my new 2.5 G Pico tank but it seemed awfully low so I am currently running a 6W LED on it instead. Would this suffice for growing low light corals like mushrooms or Kenya tree? Thanks.

Here’s a link to the light

To grow corals you need White, Blue, Green and Red light this light only has
"LED Quantity: 15 LEDs (12 White / 3 Blue)"
Personally I don't know enough about pico tanks to recommend a light but one with adjustable intensity, and white blue green and red lights should be good (the red and green don't have to be intense but they have to be there as corals get there energy from algae which is grown best in green and red light)

Do they really? I’ve seen people run tanks with LEDs that have no colours but white and blue and kept corals successfully for years. Are you sure this doesn’t just apply to high lighting corals? I’m only planning to put low light species like mushrooms and maybe some button polyps

Pretty sure red and green are good for growth not sure if you can keep corals long term without it though
