Lighting for 40B

I have 2 AI primes on my 40 and i want to add some more light to help with shadowing. Ive been looking at t5 hybrid fixtures, retro fitting t5s, a 3rd prime or a pair of Orphek led strips. The aquatic life t5 led hybrid seems like my best bet but i don't want to spend $400. Thoughts?

Personally, if you don't mind the look, I'd go with something like these. Save a couple of hundred dollars.

I’ve heard good things in the reef bright xho and the reef breeders light strips. I’ve got nothing against the t5 add on, I just don’t want to replace bulbs

I like the reefbrite xhos but what makes them $270? I feel like i might as well go t5 if i spend that much.

The big question would be of 5 years or so how much would you spend on replacement bulbs vrs the reefbright. Not saying get them, it’s just the next price comparison

Honestly you’d be better off with a viparspectra black box assuming you are not keeping high end sps in the 40B.

If you want, you can also keep the 2 al prime to light up half the tank and black box the other half for full coverage so you can grow amazing stuff on the other half.

Not very aesthetic to the eye, but it’s only $110 light
