Lighting for 90

I have a standard 90 gallon (48x18x24). I want a mixed reef with SPS at top. At the moment 2 AI prime supplemented with current USA ic. I don't think it's enough. Im thinking of upgrading during the black Friday deals. Budget is $700. I was thinking of adding an additional 2 primes ($400) or swapping for 2 Hydra 26 ($700) or the reef breeder phonton v2 48 ($600). Any suggestions? This is my tank at the moment.

If the LEDs are not enough I would go with ATI T5 fixture. That should cover your SPS needs.

Go LEDs and t5, get the retrofit t5 kit that just came out. $299 I believe. Has four bulbs and places to mount your LEDs

+1 this would be a good idea also. Between the Fixture and lights it should put you right under $400 and you could add the AI Primes to it.

I was also thinking about that. But I'm not sure if the fixture will fit into my canopy. I prefer to keep the canopy for the look. I will have to measure the interior dimensions to see if it's an option

Hey there - I'd get two more primes then a t5 retro kit for ~$150, which can all be put into your stand. That would be 4 primes and two 48" t5's which should be plenty for anything you want to grow. You can add two more t5's with another retro kit down the line if you need to, but you probably won't. Modular too - so you can zone it if necessary. Bulk Reef Supply recently did a video on using multiple AI Primes - very relevant to your issue, check it out...

Those can all be put into your canopy rather, not your stand ; )

I know this might not be a popular opinion, But I have 2 LED Coronas from Rapid led on my 90 gallon. Those, with a t5 retrofit, might be a good option, although maybe over budget. Just throwing it out there. Great tank BTW!
