Lighting For A 10 Gallon Tank & More....

A friend of mine wants to set up a 10 gallon reef. He will probably just stick with a marine land HOB filter. I am helping figure out good equipment. What would be a good light. He will be keeping softies and maybe some LPS.

Well, my friend is kind of cheap (no offense ) and he wants this tank to be as least expensive as possible.

I feel like I remember someone having an LED bulb that goes into a normal fixture and it can keep corals. Can you think of anything like that? Something cheap ...........

Look into Aquaclear 20 or 30.

Maybe just the AC20. The water flow can get pretty turbulent.

Kessil A160WE. The reason I am recommending this is because he will most likely upgrade in the future. A Kessil will be extremely sufficient for anything he wants to grow in the future. For a filter I would recommend and Fluval C2 HOB power filter. The MarineLand bio wheel will stop turning and the Fluval Aquaclear will be good but the C2 will make life easier. I know all this bc I too started with a 10g with a cheap light and hob filter. And then soon updated to Kessil and better filter

Agree it has a lot of flaws. Obviously these should only be used for beginner nano's. Personally sumps are what I run
