Hi all,

I’m looking at lighting options for 125g 6 foot long tank (22 inches deep). I’ve looked at several options and narrowed it down. I don’t want to spend crazy money. I’m also planning mostly LPS as corals. The main issue with the tank is that it has 3 deviders so I can use two 36 inch fixtures because of how the dividers are setup.

Ocean Revive T 247 x 3 = $600
Reefbreeders 50 = $700
Used Kessil 160s x 3 = $600
Aquamaxx Prisms 24-36 inch X 3 = $500

Would any of these options make sense? Kessil Are very easy to find used and I picked 150s over 350 because 3 360s I think might be too much (and would likely put me over $850.

Reef breeders definitely. Better diodes, customer service, and spectrum than ocean revive.

Kessils won’t be enough light for anything but the lowest light stuff.

Unfamiliar with the aquamaxx

The reef breeders will be plenty of light for anything and eliminate the need to add more or upgrade later

Reefbreeders actually hasn’t responded to my emails which was why I just posted here to ask [emoji848]

Well. All these black box rebranders are one man operations. So they all frequently get overwhelmed and go on back order. Ocean revive is the worst about it. They’ll go months without answering a single call or email

honesty man find some used radions like g2s because you dont want to go cheap on your lighting its the most important factor imo, this hobby wasnt made for cheapskates.

I'm sorry to hear that! What is your email address? I will see if your inquiry made it through. I will get in touch with our site designer as well, as it appears some emails are not making it through our contact form.

I wouldn't provide my email in the open forum, but you can just respond here. Yes, I have contact you twice and heard nothing :-/.

  • What size should I get for my 125G tank (72" long) - Want to do mostly LPS
  • What your lead time is
  • When you are planning to have more units in stock
  • If I got the 48 or 50 model will the legs stretch to 72"
I was going to contact MD Monday about the Prisms.

Thanks,

No problem, understood on that! If you could pm me I would appreciate it, I want to see how we missed you.

For your tank 2 of our Photon 24-V2+ will work well.

Our 50-V2+ will also work- the very ends of the tank my have some shadows. The legs will not work- you need to hang the light about 12" above the water level.

Our 50-V2+ are in stock as of this morning.

If you have any other questions just let me know!

Thanks for the response [emoji3]. I think the issue I have is that my tank has 3 cross braces on the tank that are equally split. I don’t believe I could place 2 fixtures evenly spread out unless I hung the lights or mounted them on a canopy [emoji53]. Have you run into this for your 6 foot tank customers who have traditional braces on their glass tanks?

3 cross braces, or 3 sections?

Our lights have space between each cluster, so you can easily space them out in such a way that the light is directed around the braces.

Quick update here — I found the orbit marine pro in a 72 inch model — it’s a pretty good price and given I’m not going for high light corals - this might be a good option. Anyone have experience with this light? I think the highest low coral I will ever get is a Monti

I went with currents ic pros dual , 72 inches. I liked that the loop system also controls up to 3 power heads. I'm using 3 brackets

Yeah it’s a pretty amazing system. I love how the brackets can actually hold 2 light fixtures so I can upgrade to a second unit if I need more PAR.

I love the DC wave makers as well. I also got a DV return pump - but I love the whole package. Thanks so much for everyone’s help. I really wanted a rim mounted system and this won’t destroy my bank account lol.

I have two 48" ic pro on my 75 and two of the 1050gph wave pumps. Really like it so far but no livestock yet

My plan is to add an orphek OR 120 UV strip for more color during the day with the whites on

I like my sbreef lights I have a total of six over two 6ft long reef tanks. One is a new build and the other is a year or two old with corals and they seem to grow and color nicely with the light...I used to use kessil 160's on a 55gallon but now those are my fuge lights lol.

Our living room ceiling has high sloping ceilings so we didn't want lights hung and with the brackets, it gives me room to work, even if I need to lower them at some point. Had to pass on the pump--it was too big for my return chamber and it costs a lot more than the jebao I got instead

Are those tank mount brackets adjustable up and down ?

Yes. 7, 5, and 3 inches I have mine at 7 inches right now. Thinking of lowering them to 5 inches.

Ty. Good to know ! I have a shelf above my tank so 7" wouldn't fit. If I could go 5 that would be fantastic.

Going to mount my two ic pros and use the bracket to mount my orphek OR 120 UV between them.
