So I've had the itch to to set up a new tank, but little room for one. So I'm setting up an old 14 gallon biocube that's been sitting around. The filter walls are cracked, and only one of my ballasts works... I'm going to be ripping out the rear filter, and running a small submersible filter with media and a power head hidden under my rocks with a tube coming up for flow. Any one have suggestions on lighting I could use for my tank that would be on the cheaper side? It's going to be a softie tank. Thanks! Pictures to come in time.

IF you are going to run softies then the light does not have to be so strong but they will need a good light, I would also go with a good LED as there are a few now that are made for Nano tanks. You might look at something similar to this.... This one is on sale at the moment also.

AquaTop Nano Type-R 7.5 Watt LED Light

I use a Par38 LED bulb hung form the ceiling on my 12G cube. The hanging cord is from Ikea ($6).

Coralcompulsion.com - Mine is an older one that just has blues/whites. The newer version is full spectrum.

I'm new to the hobby an I believe my light is to strong and is starting to kill my coral I raised it up about 8 inches but I'm not sure what's the right spot for it I have a ten gallon tank

What kind of light and how many watts? Are the corals bleaching and/or melting?
BTW, it's better if you start your own thread and not hijack this one. :)

my apologizes I jus found this app and still learning the ropes it's a led marianeland and it's 16 inches long there not melting an they have color jus shriveled up the leather seems to be reacting well since I raised the light but my hammer and tongue are both closed up
