Hey all! I have a question for the light experts. I've almost (I think) talked my husband into letting me switch our 75g to saltwater but he wants it to be under the TV so we can actually see it. The problem I have with that is the lighting. We won't be able to use lights that hang. Is there a light that is good enough for softies and lps that are somewhat flush with the tank, like the LEDs used for freshwater? They would have to be fairly inexpensive, as well. If I try to spend too much too, I'm afraid he'll balk and say no to the whole thing lol

There are not many lights that can go deep enough that are flush. Currents are flush but are incredibly weak. The only one I can think of would be one by zetlight but I can't find par readings on them. Most of them mount either by 1 or two arms. I use ocean revives on mine and found a way to mount them on a 75. SB reef lights has one that spans the tank's length with it's mounts. What is your price range.

hello,used aquatic life ,4 t5's,moons,digital programmable,w legs,don't pay more than 75-80$ for,just make sure all works ;)

No more than $150. I know, doesn't give me many options (if any) lol. I'm hoping that I'll eventually talk him into something that will do a better job, but for now, I'm just going to have to get what I can

A t5 setup would be cheaper at first, but you would have to replace the bulbs yearly. So that is an option. As for LED's, I am not sure of any that you could get to cover the tank for under 150 (be it one or two fixtures) except for zelight lancia 2 but I can't find par readings on it (it fits your desired flush look and is $150 for a single light. You would need to contact zetlight for the par. There are bulbs like the par 38 ones that could work but are obviously not flush.

I'll check them out. Thanks! :)

You can try looking into Aquatic Life Edge lights which is around the 150 range new. I had the older model which worked well with lps and softies in my 90 gallon tank. I believe the only difference from the new one and the one I used was the wifi and looks slightly bigger.

I'll look into those, too. Thanks! :)

I have my old SB Reeflights 32" model in a closet up stairs. It won't be able to sit flush with the top, but you could probably get away with 6-8 inches above if that would work for you. I would need to see if I can get in touch with them to get replacement wifi card, they will only sell new version if they install it themselves...like I'm not capable ;Meh. I'll make you a good deal on it.

How does the Aquatic Life compare to Noopysche? They are all sold out on their website.

Thanks! I'll look them up and see if they might be a good fit for what I have planned. @sfin52 and I were talking earlier today and we were trying to figure out how I might be able to hang lights, even with the TV above the tank (since it seems that most of the better options all hang). He suggested a mantle under it and then hang the lights from there. I talked to my husband about it and he suggested recessing the lights into the mantle, almost like a canopy type deal. I'll give him all the options and have him decide, so I may be sending you a PM soon :)

I don’t personally have any experience with Noopsyche so it’s hard for me to provide much feedback on this...but based on what i have read/seen it seem to have the ability to support lps and can even support sps with the K7 Pro II...This is only based on what I was able to find online...Maybe others with more experience can chime in on the Noopsyche....
