I'm looking to upgrade the light that came in my 10 gallon nano.

I was looking at going led.
I found a clip on light I like but I know nothing about lights at all and can't seem to find any solid info.

Here is the light I found UP AQUA LED light Clip Clamp nano aquarium 8000k 110v | eBay

Is there a general set of guidlines I can use to follow?

Thanks

It all depends on what type of inhabitants your keeping. Is it a fish only?, FOWLR? reef? if your only going to have a fish and do not mind a white color, that fixture should be ok, if your looking to do anything else, that light will not work.
Also, Welcome to R2R!

It is a reef tank, right now I have an atman cr320 tank it's actually about 8 gal not 10.
It came with a pc light 8000k 13w in the hood.
Any thoughts on upgrades?

with if you went hoodless i would think about a kessil a150.
with a hood i would say perhaps reefbrites or even evo slims from reefkoi if they would fit

ok but heres my confusion, how do you decide?
Saying I have 8000k 13w means nothing to me.
HOw many k should I have how many watts? I've been in sw for awhile but my other tanks all came with my t5 setups. I really don't know where I'm going with the w per gal or whatever it is.

i doubt either will support coral.
thats the problem with those cheap chinese fixtures

I'm a huge fan of the Reef Brites and the Kessil. One thing I've found with this hobby is that you get what you pay for, especially when your talking lights, cheap is almost never whats going to work well in the long run.
