Setting up a small second tank to focus on high end LPS and zoas. The tank will have a few gonis, acans, Palys, torches and maybe a montipora. Recommendations for a simpler and ideally cheaper light?

Kessil a80 would work great on that tank. AI Prime is always an option for that size too.

By the time you get the A80, controller and mount, you're right in AI Prime price territory. Might as well skip the headache and go straight to the Prime. Or buy used and save even more money. I would much rather have too much power and turn it down than wish I'd bought a more powerful light to start with.

On my first 10g AiO, I went Fluval Sea & Marine 3.0 Nano > Kessil A80 > AI Prime. Should've saved the money and hassles and gone straight for the Prime. I only run it at about 50% power, but the coverage, spectrum and control are so much nicer, IMO.

I honestly don’t think I’d get the controller for it. I’d just keep it at one spectrum for the day. I was curious about the Fluval light but I read it’s not very bright

Honestly, the Fluval surprised me. It was a nice light for the money, just stretching a bit for a 10g, IMO. It'd be a perfect, inexpensive light option for someone running a smaller AiO, Pico or similar. I kind of feel the same about the A80.

Yeah I’m curious about the spread. The tank is 14” but I think my scape will only be about 8-9” wide. I’m also really only planning on keeping 1-2 torches, some gonis, acans and zoas. So nothing that needs crazy light
