Looking to set up a 24x24x8. I'm looking for something that is going to grow them the fastest. Will be growing lps, sps, and softies.

What do you use on the DT? If you like it, why not use the same?
Lighting is only one aspect however.

Well I have a metal halide 250watt ballast but I think that might be too much for such a shallow frag tank but maybe I'm wrong. The display tank has radium 20k. I was going to do 2-5 gallon water change once a week.

you can use a 250W, just hang it a little bit higher. You could also go with T5's or LED; I;m partial to T5's. 24" x 6 bulb fixture with good ATI bulbs should serve you well.

From what I've read, the quickest growth will come from 6000K-10,000K bulbs, but you won't have any color in them. The color will come from the actinic (and maybe UV) spectrum. So, IMO, the best for growth and color will be in the 15,000K spectrum.

but again, that's just my .02

Has anyone run a 10k for growth then switch to 14-20k for however it took for them to color up again?

Does anyone have suggestions for what multiple t5 bulb or metal halide/t5 fixture? I was thinking of buying a cheap aquatraders fixture and replace the bulbs with better ones. Any ideas?

I agree I am running a 8x54watt ATI fixture With All ATI bulbs LOVE IT..

My tank is 24W 48L 19H bulbs front to back

Hanging 14 above the water since the tank is shallow and the blue+ and coral+ are high par/pur bulbs and it is a glass bottom.

reflectors are crap.
Look for a used fixture, like a Tek.
