I would like I add some macro algae probably cheto. My sump is a 29 gallon about half full. I have a 48 watt t5 ho. Will this be enough to support the algea?

IMO There is no need for that much light. How big is the actual fuge area?

I'm running the Reef Radiance DM-5e on my 12x13" fuge area. 5w Par30 full spectrum LED, will last forever, cost virtually nothing to run compared to a 48w T5. Which you'll be needing to replace the lamp every year at least. Just food for thought. At least go with some type of LED [emoji271]

Chaeto will grow under very minimal lighting. You do not need to go crazy with strong lighting. I have had best luck with compact fluorescent flood lights in the 6500k range. If you are interested in growing other varieties of algae, those may give you more issues with needing more light.
