Hey guys I have a 14g Biocube sitting around and decided to get it up and running. The only problem is everything in the hood is pretty much shot, so I have to do something about the lighting. I was going to do a retro kit from RapidLED but broke the splash guard while scrubbing everything down and haven't been able to find a replacement part. This brought me to the conclusion of using a PAR 38 bulb. Seeing as this is my first venture into LED land I was wondering if any of yall had opinions on who makes the best bulb.

I have been looking at these two bulbs so far:
12 LED PAR38 Bulb (Mixed Color with UV) - Rapid LED
reefbreeders

If anyone has had any experience with these bulbs or any others you use the input would be greatly appreciated.

Check out mdbannisters nano in 90...we built a led light system for his biocube 14 it was fairly cheap and turned out great. His mounts directly into the stock hood.

His thread is what actually got me thinking about setting my biocube back up. I was cleaning out the hood for a retro kit but broke my splash guard and haven't been able to find a replacement part.

Ps. Those LEDs you built look really clean. Very nice build

Thank you ;)

Wait until you see the new lights we are working on ;);)

Why not just buy some acrylic and cut it to size?

I've got plenty laying around that I could cut and send to you.

Are you just talking about laying a piece of acrylic on the rim around the tank? I thought about doing that but I wasn't sure if it needed to be water tight. I know when the pc's were in there, there was so much heat and evaporation I would still get a good amount of salt creep even with the screw in splash guard. I've never really worked with acrylic, but I'm a decently handy person and could prob figure it out with a little reading and a couple tries.
