Initially I was planning on going with T5, but I lean more and more toward LED. The new tank is 72x18x24, and lights will be installed in a canopy (with venting customized for whatever fixtures I end up with). Here are my current choices

  • ATI sunpower 6x80 (60") (~$750 w/ bulbs, + $150/year)
  • 4 AI Hydra 26HDs ($1400)
  • 3 AI Hydra 52HDs ($1800)
  • ??? Radion XR30 Pro G4s ($$$???)
The concerns I have with the T5s are heat, electricity cost, and bulb replacement cost over time. Am I worrying about nothing?

I also like the idea of being able to control the LEDs much more closely.

I just switched to t5 my corals are doing much better after using led for 4 years they are actually losing the brown they had

Check out this months Tank spot light!!!!! Using 4 hydra 52's and its amazing!!!!!!
