I have a jbj 28 gallon nano cube and im looking take the canopy off and upgrade my lighting so that i will be able to grow sps coral such as acropora! And lights you would recommend? Or is my standard cf lighting that comes with the nank cube enough? I have one sps coral in my tank, the guy at the fish store said it would be fine knowing my setup if i placed it higher in the tank (which i did as high as even possible but now its losing its color im believing i need a lighting upgrade or something is wrong. And if i got better lighting would i be able to slowly bring my dying coral back to life?

Basically you need at least 3 watts per gallon for sps, and more like 3.5 to 4 for lps. Dont trust what you lfs says ever. always have you smartphone handy. I was sold 2 lights that i was rtold would grow corals and neither produced more than 2 watts per gallon. then i took them both back and demanded a refund or a new light and they gave me a fluval marine and reef. Now since its called marine and reef and "grow corals" was on the box i accepted. This as well was not enough power to support anything but a few select few extremely hardy corals. What brand is the light you have and what are the specifications. Is it an LED because if so for it to be worthy of corals it should have costed a pretty penny. If it was a bargain most likely wont be enough. Coral can repair some bleaching as long as it isnt too bad. Hope this helps a little- its just the basics not really too in depth

ps. Coral life is a good brand, and anything t5 or metal hallides is good just read user reviews- lots of user reviews
