i have had my frag tank running for a while now. i have had good luck over all but once in a while you get one that just melts away or acts funny. i am using a DIY led fixture but was just wondering what would be the lighting to get for a frag tank thats price friendly . i have seen a few in the 400-60 range and thats a bit steeeeep especially when my wedding is coming up. i frag in a 29g biocube. my DIY is 15white/15 blue 3w leds. running approx 700mA. when i run white and blues i think zoas react more negativly. when i run blue alone, they look pretty good! throw out some ideas guys.. thanks

Mike

Nothing better than a kessil man I just got a pair cost me 586$!!! Hard on my little pocket but I promise you will be happy!! Go to marinedepot.com there 225 there 1 will be great on a 29 bio cube my friend seen mine and ordered one for his 29 cube.

I run a single 250w radium SE 20k over my zoa/paly frag tank. Love it. You can get them for pretty cheap these days with people switching to LED.

I have an Aqua Illumination Nano over my biocube29. All of my zoas opened up except one frag. I've tried moving it but it wont open. Not too sure what I can do. The lfs had AI LED's too...?

quick question.... i do have a jbj viper 2 metal halide with balast sitting around. people have told me for a while that halides produce more growth. the one i have can be either 70w or 150w. which is better for a frag tank with mainly Zs & Ps 150 or 70?

I would go with the 150 if it is an open top. If you are thinking of going L.E.D. I would get a kessil 350 or 360. easy to tune, about the same price as two Kessil A150's and you can still use it if you ever upgrade your frag tank.

+1 for the kessil A350/360 on a cube you can get away with it. It's supposed to cover a 3 ft area I considered a couple but it was to much for my shallow tank 4' long but 12" wide and 14" deep with a solid 3-4 in sandbed. So a pair of 350s would be way overkill. But believe me as soon as my 190 is finish I'm going A350!!! The pair if 150s I have I love them!! They are a little blue but it grows on you my corals look better than ever!!
