Lighting Height Above Tank?

[h=1]I have a 48" 260w Pl Aquarium Light Reef Marine Fish Tank Hood Light I know its not the best but for the money it will have to due for now. I need to know how high i should hang it above my tank this is going to be my first attempt to hang a light and i would like as much input as possible to how i should do it and how high the light needs to be for my tank and anything else i may need to know.
[/h]A little about my tank it is a 55 gallon with a few softies in it and some clown fish and has 2ins of sandbed questions and comments very appreciated thank you

They are power compacts not great i know
