hey guys quick question i cant find on the search, can to intense light cause corals to receede and die? i thought the worse that can happen is bleaching.

You can kill corals with to much light, if they are not acclimated properly.

You can burn corls still, using to much light, say if you have a not so deep tank. They bleach out like you said with to much. Most using LEDs run them along the lines of 75% and less, depending on the unit and the wattage and the optics.
How much white light and how much blue light is all up to you, but using LEDs nowadays, its almost all blue light with a smidgin of white.

Ive been having some zoas close up and die since switching from two kessil 150s to a single 250w radium and they're on the sandbed. I get my sps from a 400w radium tank so it all does fine right away :P
